Overview

Teen Leadership Council (TLC) & The Coast Side Teen Leaders
TLC and The Coast Side Teen Leaders focus on teaching teens essential leadership skills through various curricula. Leadership is not an innate trait; it is something we acquire through learning. As we gain these skills, we become empowered to lead, engage, collaborate, and make a positive difference in our lives and schools.
The TLC program also involves community service projects, while also exposing the youth to various educational conferences. Research shows that a trusting relationship with a caring adult can significantly impact a young person's life. A mentoring adult can provide valuable and constructive learning experiences that help youth avoid gangs, drugs, and negative lifestyles.

After School Sports
After school sports programs use sports as a tool to benefit children in multiple ways. SAL introduces sports to students at several schools across the county, providing them with the opportunity to stay active, learn teamwork, and develop good sportsmanship. Meanwhile, with the soccer unit SAL focuses on improving both the physical and mental health of children, while enhancing their overall well-being. Together, these programs promote healthy lifestyles and personal growth through the power of sports

Jr Giants
Through Jr. Giants, the players not only learned the fundamentals of baseball but also engaged in character development. Throughout the season, they enhanced their skills on the field while grasping the significance of teamwork, leadership, and good sportsmanship. Community Events
Cops and Cones was established to foster interaction and build relationships between Sheriff’s Deputies and the community during the summer months. We traveled to different neighborhoods across North Fair Oaks and Central Park in Millbrae. This event has become a beloved tradition, and the best part is that all the ice cream is complimentary for the children!
Toy and Book Drive is conducted each year by the San Mateo County Sheriffs Office, Redwood City Police Department, Redwood City, CHP, San Carlos, and Woodside Fire Department. Toys are gathered in barrels by local businesses and delivered to the Toy and Book Drive. Several toy collection events are held throughout the county in order to collect items. A wrapping party is held after collection of the items, which includes hundreds of volunteers wrapping and packaging toys and books for families. Gifts are then delivered to each family by Santa Claus on either a fire truck or police car.
Shop with a Hero was first started in 2023 by Sheriff Christina Corpus, and since then has created lasting memories for the youth of San Mateo County. Local first responders and military personnel come together to give away nearly 100 underserved youth from across the county the experience of a lifetime. These heroes accompanied the youth with a $200 shopping spree at Target in Redwood City courtesy of private donors. Stay tuned for ways you can help with this unforgettable event!
