San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Celebrates Grand Opening of Coastside Sheriff’s Activities League Building

Half Moon Bay, CA — Community members, families, and youth gathered on Saturday to celebrate the ribbon-cutting and official opening of the new Coastside Sheriff’s Activities League (SAL) Building in Half Moon Bay.

The project was inspired by Sheriff Christina Corpus’ vision to create a safe, welcoming, and centralized space where Coastside youth can access mentorship programs, academic support, and community activities close to local schools.

Located at 235 Main Street, the Coastside SAL Building will serve as a hub for youth and teens to gather, connect with trusted mentors and Sheriff’s deputies, and build opportunities for growth while strengthening community bonds.

“This building stands as a promise: a promise that we are investing in the future of our kids. The Sheriff’s Activities League is far more than a crime-prevention program. It’s a place where young people find their voice, build confidence, and develop real, lasting connections—with each other, with deputies, and with the community around them,” said Sheriff Corpus. “To our local youth community: this building is yours.”

Designed with growth and connection in mind, the facility includes several dynamic spaces, such as a dedicated computer room with laptops and a quiet study area for homework and projects after school.

To support wellness and recreation, the building also features an exercise room, a TV lounge, and spaces for games and activities. SAL’s weekly Thursday Night Program will now take place at the new building, with plans underway for movie nights and special community events.
